Your Council Tax payments are usually paid over 10 monthly instalments from April to January. This can change if you have been billed part way through the year, or if your account has been recently adjusted. You can use this option to suggest a more suitable payment plan. If you do not know your current balance your overall account balance will be divided equally between the remaining number of instalments.Please note that your payment offer is subject to approval and is not guaranteed to be accepted.
Households with only one adult occupant are entitled to a 25% single person discount. Please use this option if you wish to apply for the discount or notify us that you no longer qualify for your discount.

There are a number of circumstances in which a property may be exempt from Council Tax. Please see this page for a list of exemptions. Some common exemptions are itemised on the dropdown, please use the ‘Other Exemption’ option if not itemised
Exempt Class A
This exemption is available for a maximum of 12 months for properties that are unoccupied and unfurnished and are undergoing or require major structural repairs.
This exemption is usually subject to a visit from our inspector. The inspector will contact you after your application has been received to arrange a suitable time and date for the property to be inspected.
For retrospective applications please attach evidence using the ‘upload a document’ option of the form.
Exempt Class C
This exemption is available for a maximum of 6 months for properties that are unoccupied and unfurnished. This is commonly caused by overlapping liabilities surrounding a property move or for a landlord’s liability between tenants whilst the property is vacant.
For retrospective applications (3 months prior to today’s date) you will need to provide independent evidence to support this, e.g. confirmation from your estate agent or contractors that may have undertaken work during the empty period in question. Please attach evidence using the 'upload a document’ option of the form.
Exempt Class N
Full time students are exempt from Council Tax. Your educational establishment (school, college or university) will be able to issue you a Council Tax Student Certificate if you are on a qualifying full-time course. This exemption is only available when a property is wholly occupied by students; if there are two adults and only one is a student a 25% discount is awarded.
Please attach your certificate using the ‘upload a document’ option at the bottom of the form. We will automatically apply the reduction for the period covered on the certificate if the household circumstances allow it.

The most common way to pay Council Tax is by direct debit. Please use this link to provide your bank details.
There are 4 dates available for a direct debit payment, 1st, 9th, 18th and 27th. You can amend your payment date provided we have at least 10 working days’ notice before your next scheduled payment is due to be collected.
All 4 dates are available between April and February, only the 27th is available in March. If you wish to amend your schedule to a 12 monthly option, please indicate this below in the ‘additional information’ field; please note that if you opt for 12 monthly your payment date will be amended to the 27th.
